Records & Research

Ole Iversen was born 24 September 1831, son of Iver Olsen (b. 1801) and Ragnhild Knutsdater (1801-1875), per the 2006 family report. No INDEPENDENT external public record (FindAGrave, FamilySearch/Geni/WikiTree trees, the Norwegian Digital Archives baptism index, or Vaaga/Soer-Fron local-history genealogies) could be matched to THIS Ole Iversen on two or more independent anchors; every same-name candidate found externally was correctly rejected as a different person (see openQuestions). AUDITOR CORRECTION: the prior dossier wrongly claimed the report records no death and no birthplace. The family report's own linked records actually supply more: the father's record (iver-olsen-1801) states 'Their son, Ole Iversen, died on 18750312' (12 March 1875), and the sibling/spouse records place the family at Soer-Fron / Hundorp (Soer-Fron Dom Kirke), the probable birth parish. These are within-report facts (the same source already trusted as the basis), not independent external corroboration, so the death date is carried at 'likely', not 'confirmed', and no external source was raised to 'confirmed'.

Open questions (7)
  • BIRTHPLACE / PARISH: the report gives no place field for Ole Iversen, but the family is placed at Soer-Fron / Hundorp, Gudbrandsdalen (sibling Embjor Iversdater 'Near Hundorp, Norway'; family married at Soer-Fron Dom Kirke; father bought Haverstad in 1837). Soer-Fron is therefore the probable baptism parish for a targeted digitalarkivet.no born-and-baptised lookup for ~24 Sep 1831, firstname Ole, father Iver Olsen, mother Ragnhild Knutsdatter. (Note: the prior dossier called the parish 'unknown'; this is the correction.)
  • DEATH/BURIAL not yet externally verified: the report gives a death date of 12 March 1875 (from the father's reportNotes) but no burial place and no external death/probate record. A Soer-Fron buried/dead church-book entry around March 1875, or a probate (skifte), would independently confirm. (Prior dossier incorrectly stated no death is recorded.)
  • NO INDEPENDENT EXTERNAL SOURCE was matched to THIS Ole Iversen on 2+ anchors; every external same-name candidate was rejected. Identity beyond the family report remains externally unconfirmed.
  • REJECTED candidate (correctly): an 'Ole Iversen' in census records (age 7 in 1861, age 11 in 1865) born Gausdal, Norway, father Iver Olsen but mother Olea/Ola Christensdatter (via WikiTree IVERSEN index). Rejected on TWO anchors: born ~1854 not 1831, and mother is not Ragnhild Knutsdater.
  • REJECTED candidate (correctly): 'Ole Olsen f.1831', husmann at Bergestugu under Sunde, Vaaga (Vaagaa-historielag 'Sunde og Sundlien' PDF). Rejected: patronymic is Olsen (father Ole), not Iversen (father Iver) — a fatal mismatch under Norwegian patronymics; wife Imbjor Mathiasdotter; mother is not Ragnhild Knutsdater.
  • REJECTED candidates (correctly): various 'Ole Iverson/Iversen' Norwegian emigrants to Iowa/Wisconsin (Hurdal/Christiania to Franklin Co., Iowa; Vernon Co., Wisconsin lines). None had father Iver Olsen AND mother Ragnhild Knutsdater AND an 1831 birth.
  • Could not directly query digitalarkivet.no advanced/born-and-baptised search (HTTP 500/404 on parameterized URLs). A manual indexer search there (firstname=Ole, father=Iver Olsen, mother=Ragnhild Knutsdatter, parish=Soer-Fron, baptism year 1831; and dead/buried 1875) is the recommended next step to obtain an INDEPENDENT confirmation.
