Records & Research

Mari Olsdater was born 11 July 1817, the daughter of Ole Iversen (1781-1861) and Lisbet Olsdater (b. 1785), per the 2006 family report. Public-record searches across FindAGrave, FamilySearch, WikiTree, Geni, Geneanet, and Norwegian church-record indexes did not surface any source that matches this specific person on two or more independent anchors (birth date/place, a parent, a spouse, or a child). The lone near-match was a WikiTree lead for the FATHER (an "Ole Iversen Rud" 1781-1861); on review of the WikiTree IVERSEN index it could not be substantiated (no Nes/Akershus "Ole Iversen Rud" with those years appears, and no profile links to a wife Lisbet or a daughter Mari b. 1817). No new facts could be confirmed beyond what the report already states; her birthplace, death, burial, marriage(s), and children remain unknown from available public records.

No additional public records have been confirmed yet — only what the family report records.

Open questions (6)
  • No birthplace/parish is recorded in the report; without it, the 11 July 1817 baptism record cannot be located in Norwegian church books (Digitalarkivet), which would be the definitive source. Suggest searching Digitalarkivet directly by date+parents once a candidate parish is known.
  • The patronymic 'Olsdater' is consistent with being a daughter of an Ole (the father, Ole Iversen) and the mother Lisbet is also an 'Olsdater' (daughter of an Ole) - but this consistency alone is not an identifying anchor.
  • The 'Ole (Iversen) Rud' 1781-1861 lead for the FATHER was checked against the WikiTree IVERSEN surname index during this audit and could NOT be confirmed: the index shows no Nes/Akershus 'Ole Iversen Rud' with matching years (the listed Ole Iversens are from Møre og Romsdal / Hordaland with different dates), and nothing connects any such Ole to a wife Lisbet Olsdatter or a daughter Mari b. 1817. Treated as a ruled-out / unverifiable lead, not a match.
  • No death, burial, marriage, or children records were found; her adult life and any emigration to America are entirely undocumented in the sources consulted.
  • Did Mari marry and adopt a married surname (which would change the patronymic), or die young? Either could explain the absence of records under 'Olsdatter'.
  • A Geneanet 'brynjulf' tree recurred in 'Ole Iversen' searches but was fetched and found to be a Trondelag/northern-Norway database with no matching Ole Iversen (1781-1861) or Lisbet Olsdatter - ruled out.
